How to format in-text citations and References page with examples

In-text Citations

When referencing works in the body of your paper, cite the source using parenthetical citations (that is, with parentheses). In APA this will typically look like the author's last name, comma, the page number inside parentheses following the sentence, but before the period.

The information within the parentheses must match the References page entry and what information is included depends on the source type (for example, a movie will not have a page number). There is a specific format for one or more authors, no author, two authors with the same name, or two different works by the same author. The APA style guide will detail how to handle each one.
