MLA Citations

How to give credit to your sources using The Modern Language Association of America (MLA)

In-text Citations

When referencing works in the body of your paper, cite the source using parenthetical citations (that is, with parentheses). In MLA, this will typically look like the author's last name and the page number inside parentheses following the sentence, but before the period.

The information within the parentheses must match the Works Cited page entry and what information is included depends on the source type (for example, a movie will not have a page number). There is a specific format for one or more authors, no author, two authors with the same name, or two different works by the same author. MLA has it all covered.

See the below quick references to start formatting your in-text citations.
